General Information:

Play alongside the top players from your province as you train and compete to represent Alberta; this is the essence of the Provincial Team experience! The ultimate goal is to represent your province against the top players from across Canada.  BA features the following teams for Boys and Girls:

Program Age Groups - (as of December 31 of the previous year)

U17 - Provincial Team (Birth Year: 1996, 1997)
 
U16 - Provincial Team (Birth Year: 1997, 1998)

U15 - Provincial Team (Birth Year: 1998, 1999)

U14 - Provincial Team (Birth Year: 1999, 2000)

Competitions

The 2013 Provincial Teams will train and compete for the following events:

U17 - Canada Summer Games
Boys – August 2 - 9, 2013 in Sherbrooke, QC
Girls – August 11 - August 17, 2013 in Sherbrooke, QC

In addition to competing at the Canada Summer Games in Quebec, the U17 Girls team will travel to Seoul, South Korea to participate in a basketball exchange program from May 15 – 24, 2013.

U16 - TBA
The U16 events will be announced shortly.

U15 - Canada Basketball National Championships
Boys and Girls – August 4 – 11, 2013 in St. John's, NL

U14 - New to Team Alberta programming this year is the U14 Provincial team. This is the first year Basketball Alberta has offered a team for this age group and we are excited about adding yet another program to provide an opportunity for player development.

Tryouts for Team Alberta Provincial teams will take place in late March and early April 2013. *If you are currently participating in Basketball Alberta sanctioned programs or playing for a Basketball Alberta member league or club, then you would be a BA Member. If you have any questions regarding BA membership please give our office a call at 780.644.8778 . Basketball Alberta strongly encourages and would appreciate that players pre-register for the upcoming tryouts. This will assist with speeding up the tryout process and ensure adequate gym space.

Please direct all tryout questions and inquiries to the head coach for that team.

• Gym locations will be announced once scheduling is confirmed
• Players must attend BOTH session times on tryout dates
• Players must attend at least one Open Tryout

• Basketball Alberta is pleased to announce that, for the first time, the Alberta Shooting Stars Showcase will be used as part of the identification and evaluation process for Provincial Team selections.
